Want to go to the Super Bowl in Miami? Bring your wallet ... and your credit card.
According to third-party ticket site StubHub.com, the average price for a ticket to see the 49ers vs. the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV is $7,000.
That’s not a typo. But it is the highest average price that Super Bowl ticket hawkers have seen in 10 years.
“That’s 33% higher than it was last year,” said StubHub spokeswoman Erin Exum.
Why are the prices so high?
“I think it’s just a result of fatigue with the Patriots in the Super Bowl every year,” Exum said. “Chiefs fans want to see their team in the Super Bowl for the first time in 50 years. Niners fans just want to see a win.
Don’t have that kind of dosh? No worries, it’ll cost you a mere $4,000 for the cheap seats. (That price is fluctuating by the minute, for what it’s worth, dipping to $3,500 at times, according to StubHub.)
If price is no object, another ticket site, TickPick.com, says “the best available seat (in Hard Rock Stadium's ‘72 Club’) is available for $39,939.”
You can get a similar ticket at StubHub for about $28,000. What a deal! For that money, you get open bar, food and a club atmosphere with plenty of TVs.
StubHub’s data shows there are 3,400 tickets available. Buyers are coming from 10 countries, with 95% from the U.S.
In case you’re wondering which team’s fans may travel better: StubHub’s data shows 22% of tickets are being bought by Californians. Missouri is close behind with 20% of purchases.
